AI Lunch & Seminar discusses practical AI and digital transformation in Hung Yen

On 6 October 2026, the AI Lunch & Seminar Series hosted by Nexus Lab, the joint research laboratory of INT2 and VNU-ITI, held an exchange session at the Hung Yen Department of Science and Technology on the practical use of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation. The meeting brought together representatives from provincial departments and agencies, specialist units, and R&D teams from major enterprises operating in Hung Yen.

The session took place shortly after Assoc. Prof. Pham Bao Son, formerly Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU Hanoi), took up his new role as Vice Chairman of the Hung Yen Provincial People’s Committee. A researcher in artificial intelligence, particularly natural language processing, he completed both his undergraduate and doctoral studies at the University of New South Wales in Australia and won silver medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics in 1994 and 1995. During his years at VNU Hanoi, he strongly supported AI development activities, including research and deployment around large language models (LLMs), as well as the AI Lunch & Seminar Series.

The Nexus Lab delegation was led by Dr. Nguyen Viet Cuong, General Director of INT2 and Head of Nexus Lab. It included researchers from the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and the Faculty of Information Technology at VNU University of Engineering and Technology; Hung Yen University of Technology and Education; the Vietnam–UK Institute for Research and Executive Education, The University of Danang (VNUK); and Thai Binh University.

The meeting focused on questions that arise when public agencies and enterprises move from general interest in AI to actual use. Discussion covered how to identify suitable problems, the roles of data and infrastructure, how to test and evaluate AI tools, information-security requirements, and how workflows and teams need to be organised so that AI becomes part of real operations rather than a collection of isolated experiments.

Rather than a one-way presentation, most of the session was reserved for open questions and discussion. Concerns raised by participants in Hung Yen were examined from research, systems-engineering and deployment perspectives. The aim was to clarify the conditions under which AI can support concrete work, while keeping AI adoption connected to the broader process of digital transformation in government agencies and enterprises.

The AI Lunch & Seminar Series is a lunchtime discussion series hosted by Nexus Lab at Building E3, Xuan Thuy Campus, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. It provides concise updates on notable AI developments in Viet Nam and internationally, with short presentations and substantial time for discussion. The regular schedule is the second and fourth Thursday of each month, with sessions designed to finish before 2:00 PM.

The Hung Yen session extends that format beyond its regular venue in Ha Noi, bringing technical discussion closer to agencies and enterprises that are actively considering how AI should be used in their own work.
