INT2 sponsors the 15th KSE Conference

The 15th International Conference on Knowledge and Systems Engineering (KSE 2023) was held from October 18 to 20, 2023 at the Academy of Cryptography Techniques (ACT), Ha Noi. The conference was co-organised by ACT, VNU University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET), Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), and the Club of ICT Faculties-Departments-Schools-Institutes of Viet Nam.

KSE 2023 attracted over 500 participants, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui The Duy – Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, and scientists from 20 countries. The conference received 145 submissions and selected 80 high-quality papers for presentation, published on IEEE Xplore. Topics included natural language processing, computer vision, intelligent software, knowledge representation, and a special session on information security and cryptography.

The conference featured keynote talks by five distinguished professors: Prof. Arndt von Haeseler (University of Vienna, Austria) on RNA velocity models in scRNA-seq data; Prof. Thomas Agotnes (University of Bergen, Norway) on group knowledge and modal logic; Prof. Jean-Yves Marion (University of Lorraine and LORIA, France) on scalable program clone search; Prof. Sylvain Guilley (CTO, Secure-IC) on electromagnetic analysis; and Mr. Tomas Gustavsson (Securemetric Technology, Sweden) on post-quantum cryptography.

INT2 was proud to sponsor KSE 2023 alongside the Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF), Securemetric Technology, and the National Cyber Security Joint Stock Company (NCS). The conference reaffirmed its role as a premier academic forum, promoting creativity and breakthroughs in scientific research for young scientists across Viet Nam and the world.

The 9th International Workshop on Vietnamese Language and Speech Processing (VLSP 2022) is an annual workshop held by the Association for Vietnamese Speech and Language Processing (VLSP), a member of the Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP).

This year, the workshop was hosted by the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), Ha Noi, on November 26, 2022, with many attractive shared tasks.

VLSP 2022 organised 7 shared tasks covering both speech and text processing: speech synthesis, speech recognition, speaker verification, constituent parsing, multi-document summarisation, Chinese-Vietnamese machine translation, and multilingual visual question answering. The multilingual visual question answering task, combining natural language processing and computer vision, was introduced for the first time at VLSP 2022.

In the Emotional Speech Synthesis (ESS) task, the Speech World team from VinBigData won first place with a model that converts text into emotional speech. The system supports four emotions – neutral, sad, happy, and angry – with applications in film dubbing, virtual assistants, and audiobook narration. The technology has been refined since 2021 and is being transferred to commercial products.

In the Multi-lingual Speaker Verification task, the Voice Biometrics solution from Inter ITS won first place. The technology uses voiceprint recognition to verify individual identity, offering higher security than conventional authentication systems, with applications in banking, public administration, and e-commerce.

INT2 is honoured to continue sponsoring VLSP activities with human resources and computing resources, a commitment that began in 2008 with the VLSP Project.

Computational Materials Design (CMD) is a computational approach aimed at developing new materials with specified properties and functionalities. At its core, it uses quantum simulations to solve materials science problems and design materials that meet specific requirements. CMD has demonstrated great potential to impact industrial research and development.

To share quantum simulation techniques, the Asia CMD Workshop (ACMD) has been organised in Viet Nam since 2009, in cooperation with Osaka University and Vietnamese universities. In 2022, ACMD was held at PHENIKAA University.

The 8th International Workshop on Vietnamese Language and Speech Processing (VLSP 2021) was held on December 18, 2021, hosted by the University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM. The workshop is organised annually by the Association for Vietnamese Speech and Language Processing (VLSP), a member of the Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP).

VLSP 2021 featured 7 shared tasks evaluating Vietnamese text and speech processing tools, including speaker verification, speech recognition, and natural language processing. The workshop included scientific presentations, a panel discussion on developing the VLSP community, product demonstrations, and evaluation competitions. Datasets built for the workshop are shared with the entire community for research and application development, and the best experimental results serve as a reference for research groups selecting solutions for real-world problems.

Since 2020, the VLSP Club has been formally established as a chapter of the Vietnam Informatics Association, continuing the series of international VLSP workshops initiated in 2012 under the leadership of VLSP research groups at universities and institutes across Vietnam.

INT2 is honoured to continue sponsoring VLSP activities with human resources and computing resources, a commitment that began in 2008 with the VLSP Project. For over a decade, INT2 has consistently supported the VLSP community through engineering expertise and high-performance computing infrastructure, contributing to the growth of Vietnamese natural language processing and speech technology research. This long-term partnership reflects INT2’s dedication to advancing Vietnam’s AI and data science capabilities through sustained investment in the research community.

The workshop was sponsored by the Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF) and supported by a consortium of academic and industry partners including VinBigData, AIMESOFT, VBee, VTCC, VCCorp, IOIT, VNU-UET, VNU-HUS, USTH, TLU, UIT, JAIST, INT2, and InfoRe.

Intelligent Integration Co., Ltd. (INT2), a leading HPC/AI system integrator in Viet Nam, and the Bristol-based company Graphcore (United Kingdom) signed a reseller agreement on July 15, 2021, making INT2 the official reseller of Graphcore products – including the IPU-M2000, IPU-POD16 and IPU-POD64 – in Viet Nam. In addition, Graphcore, through INT2, offers an Academic Programme that gives scientists at Vietnamese universities, institutes and national laboratories free access to advanced IPU technology for up to 6 months on the Graphcore Cloud.

The IPU is a massively parallel processor, co-designed from the ground up with the Poplar SDK, to accelerate machine intelligence. The Colossus MK2 GC200 is built using TSMC’s 7nm process, with 59.4 billion transistors. Each MK2 IPU has 1,472 processor cores running nearly 9,000 independent parallel program threads, and holds 900 MB of In-Processor Memory with 250 teraFLOPS of AI compute at FP16.16 and FP16.SR (stochastic rounding).
